An international network of scholars interested in comparative and transnational questions concerning slavery, the Group organizes a yearly research conference to discuss new research on slavery in the Americas, Africa, and the Mediterranean world. ALARI Visiting Research Scholar Marial Iglesias Utset leads this initiative with the assistance of ALARI affiliated doctoral student James Almeida. Since 2016, the Group has sponsored conferences at Harvard University, Brown University, University of Leeds, Casa de Africa (Havana), and Universidad Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona).
