Nicole Bonino (Ph.D. in 2020) is an international scholar from Italy. Her specialty is Afro Latin American Literature and Visual Arts. She has a theoretical background in Urban and Migration Studies. Having published on social urbanism, race, literature, art, and ecocriticism, she is now working on a book project that analyzes contemporary Afro Argentinian urban literature and art within the geographical and cultural framework of the metropolis of Buenos Aires. In dialogue with current theories about the city and its inhabitants, her project is the result of years of archive research and collaborations with cultural institutions, artists, and practitioners committed to the recovery of racial heritage in Argentina. An Assistant Professor of Spanish and Italian at the University of Virginia, she collaborated with the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies of the University of Manchester, and the Institute of Latin American Studies of Columbia University as Visiting Research Fellow.
