						Dayana Façanha is a doctoral candidate in Brazilian history at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, with a scholarship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Her concentration is nineteenth-century social history. Her research topics include literature, race and slavery. Her first book, to be released soon in Brazil, analyzes how José de Alencar, a Brazilian romanticist, debated political positions on slave emancipation through his novels.
