Henry Stoll
He works on the expressive culture of Haiti, particularly opera and song, in the eighteenth and early-nineteenth
centuries. In his dissertation, he seeks to examine the role of mizik savant ayisyen (Haitian art music) in the early years of Haitian sovereignty (1804-1820); in so doing, he hopes to edit and make available a corpus of imperial spectacle and song for use by Haitian performers, theaters, and schools.
