This Interest Group seeks to transcend boundaries in archaeological practice and knowledge inhibited by colonial jurisdictions and contemporary nation-states by 

  • Promoting international research and collaboration
  • Disseminating critical resources and publications to professionals and the general public in diverse and appropriate ways

Afro-Latin American Archaeology Workshop advances Afro-Latin American Studies

The Afro-Latin American Archaeology Workshop: Enhancing a Creative Community for Anthropological Inquiry took place on September 15 and 16, 2017 at the Afro-Latin American Research Institute at the Hutchins Center. Twenty participants from Latin America and United States had the chance to discuss their current research on Afro-Latin American Archaeology and lay a basis for future collaboration. Un grupo de activistas del movimiento afrodescendiente cubano se reunió en la Universidad de Harvard el 14 y 15 de abril del 2017 para hacer un balance de la evolución del movimiento antirracista cubano, sus logros, limitaciones y desafíos de cara al futuro.
